Abstract:
Provided is an electric vacuum cleaner (11) that is capable of achieving efficient autonomous travel. The electric vacuum cleaner (11) comprises: a main body case, a drive wheel, a map-generating unit (67), an own position estimating means (73), an information acquisition means (75) and a control means (27). The driving wheel enables the main body case to travel. The map-generating unit (67) generates a map on which information about the area is recorded. The own position estimating means (73) estimates the position of the vacuum cleaner (11). The information acquisition means (75) acquires information about the area outside the main body case. The control means (27) ensures that the main body case travels autonomously by controlling the operation of the drive wheel on the basis of the map generated by the map generating unit (67). The control means (27) establishes the next travel route of the main body case on the basis of the map which reflects information acquired by the information acquisition means (75) during autonomous travel.
