Abstract:
A backlight device (2) comprises: a light source section (3) formed from a plurality of light emitting diodes (9) and lenses (10) that extend the light from these light emitting diodes (9); a housing (4) that accommodates this light source section (3); a diffusion plate (5) disposed so as to cover an opening part (6a) in this housing (4); and a reflecting sheet (6) that reflects light irradiated from the light source section (3) to the diffusion plate (5) side. The light source section (3) is constituted by disposing a plurality of lenses (10) in the middle part thereof, and the plurality of lenses (10) are disposed so as to be arranged in a plurality of rows.
