A backlight module (100) and a display apparatus (1000). The backlight module (100) comprises a back plate (10), a first optical assembly (20), a second optical assembly (40), a light guide plate (30), and a drive module (50). The back plate (10) has a first backlight portion (11) and a second backlight portion (12). The first backlight portion (11) is provided with a first groove body (111), and the second backlight portion (12) is provided with a second groove body (121). The depth of the first groove body (111) is greater than the depth of the second groove body (121), such that an accommodating space (122) is formed on a surface of the second backlight portion (12) facing away from a display panel (200). The first optical assembly (20) is arranged in the first groove body (111). A light-emitting surface of a first light source (21) faces the display panel (200). The second optical assembly (40) is arranged in the second groove body (121). The drive module (50) is arranged in the accommodating space (122).
