Abstract:
A ball bearing (100) comprises an inner ring (10), an outer ring (20), and a ball (30). At least one bearing component, from among the inner ring, the outer ring, and the ball, has a contact surface (10da, 20ca, 30a). The bearing components are formed from steel that has undergone nitriding, quenching, and tempering. The steel contains carbon: 0.90 mass% to 1.20 mass% inclusive; silicon: 0.35 mass% to 0.80 mass% inclusive; manganese: 0.80 mass% to 1.20 mass% inclusive; nickel: less than 0.30 mass%; chromium: 0.80 mass% to 1.30 mass% inclusive; and molybdenum: less than 0.10 mass%, with the remainder being iron and unavoidable impurities. The value obtained by dividing the silicon concentration in the steel by the manganese concentration in the steel is less than 0.51.
