The present invention provides a battery negative electrode active material and a preparation method therefor, a battery negative electrode, and a secondary battery. The battery negative electrode active material comprises negative electrode active substance particles; the negative electrode active substance particles comprise a silicon-oxygen compound and a lithium element; and in X-ray diffraction of Cu-Kα rays, the negative electrode active substance particles have a first diffraction peak in a range of 2θ=18.78°±0.2°, and have a second diffraction peak in a range of 2θ=47.4°±0.3°, wherein the full width at half maximum value A of the first diffraction peak is greater than 0.34°, and the full width at half maximum of the second diffraction peak is set as B, wherein B/A≥1.3. The negative electrode active material for a battery provided by the present application has the electrochemical characteristics of high energy density and good dynamic performance during use. The battery prepared from the negative electrode active material has the advantages of high energy density, excellent rate discharge performance, and fast charging performance.
