Abstract:
[Problem] To effectively stabilize and prevent expansion of a rectangular cell while preventing damage to the outer casing of the rectangular cell. [Solution] A battery system is provided with: a plurality of rectangular cells (1) obtained by accommodating an electrode body (11) in a rectangular exterior casing (12) and sealing the casing in an airtight manner, the electrode body (11) obtained by layering or wrapping a positive electrode (11A) and a negative electrode (11B) interposed by an insulation layer (11C); separators (2) arranged between the rectangular cells (1); and a securing member (3) for pressing on a cell stack (9) obtained by alternatingly layering the rectangular cells (1) and the separators (2) in the layering direction to secure the stack in a pressurized state. The exterior casing (12) of the rectangular cells (1) has an active-substance contact region (12X) in which the inner surface contacts the active-substance application region (11X) of the electrode body (11), and an active-substance non-contact region (12Y) in which the inner surface does not contact the active-substance application region (11X) of the electrode body (11). When the securing member (3) is pressing on the cell stack (9), the separators (2) have an active-substance pressing part (2X) for pressing on the active-substance contact region (12X) of the exterior casing more strongly than on the active-substance non-contact region (12Y).
