Abstract:
Provided is a bearing device for a wheel, whereby the sealing performance of a seal is improved. Said seal (8) comprises a metal core (12) and a seal member (13) that is joined to the metal core. The metal core comprises: a contact section (12a) that presses up against an end of an outer member (5); an inside section (12b) that extends radially inwards from the contact section; and a disc-shaped gate section (12c) that extends radially outwards from the contact section (12a). The seal member is a single unit comprising: a side lip (13a) that extends radially outwards at a slant; a dust lip (13b) that extends radially outwards at a slant radially inwards of the side lip; and a grease lip (13c) that extends at a slant towards the inside of the bearing. The base section (6b) of a wheel-attachment flange (6) is formed into a curve with an arc-shaped cross-section and the side lip (13a), the dust lip (13b), and the grease lip (13c) make sliding contact therewith. The aforementioned gate section (12c) faces a lateral surface (6c) of the wheel-attachment flange (6) and an end surface (5c) of the outer member (5), with prescribed gaps therebetween in the axial direction, forming a labyrinth seal (14) and a circular drainage groove (15), respectively.
