Abstract:

[Problem] To provide a bearing device for a wheel, the bearing device being configured so that rusting is prevented by improving the sealing properties between an outer member and a knuckle, the resistance of a seal to muddy water is improved, and the sealing performance of the seal can be maintained for a long period of time. [Solution] A seal (9) comprises: a slinger (11) having a cylindrical section (11a) which is press-fitted into an inner ring (3) and an upstanding plate section (11b) which extends outward in the radial direction from the cylindrical section (11a); and a seal plate (12) comprising a core (13) which is press-fitted into an outer member (10) and a seal member (14) which has a pair of side lips (14a, 14b) and a grease lip (14c), the pair of side lips (14a, 14b) being joined to the core (13), the pair of side lips (14a, 14b) extending outward in the radial direction in a tilting manner and in sliding contact with the upstanding plate section (11b), the grease lip (14c) extending, on the inner diameter side of the side lips (14a, 14b), to the inner side of a bearing in a tilting manner. The seal member (14) wraps around the outer surface of an end of the core (13) and extends outward from the end in the radial direction to form an outer peripheral lip (17) having a substantially L-shaped cross-section. The outer peripheral lip (17) is disposed so as to be fitted in the gap between the outer member (10) and the flange section (18) of a knuckle (K).
