Abstract:
The present invention is a new binder with high levels of binding strength and fluidity. This binder has a surface-to-volume ratio of 80 to 400 m2/g measured by the BET method, and is formed by the carbonate group-containing magnesium hydroxide particles represented by formula (1). Mg(OH)2‑x(CO3)0.5x·mH20 (1) (wherein x and m satisfy the conditions: 0.02 ≤ x ≤ 0.7 and 0 ≤ m ≤ 1). Even when formulated together with a disintegrant or water-soluble excipient, this binder can increase tablet hardness without prolonging tablet disintegration time and can be used in direct compression tableting.
