Provided are a blood analyzer and a blood analyzing method which make it possible to obtain information relating to B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes without using a fluorescence-labeled antibody. The blood analyzer comprises a blood sample feed part; a sample preparation part for mixing blood sample that has been fed from the blood feed part, a hemolytic agent, and a fluorescent pigment for staining nucleic acids, and preparing an assay sample without using a fluorescence-labeled antibody; a light source; a first detector for detecting fluorescent light; a second detector for detecting scattered light; and information processing means for classifying lymphocytes on the basis of fluorescent and scattered light intensities and obtaining information relating to B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes on the basis of the fluorescent light intensity of the classified lymphocytes.
