Abstract:
A brake device having: a brake drum; a lining arranged opposing the braking surface of the brake drum; a brake arm to which the lining is attached; a coil spring that pushes the brake arm during braking, thereby pressing the lining against the braking surface of the brake drum; and an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the amount of compression of the coil spring and thereby adjusting the force with which the coil spring presses the brake arm. The adjustment mechanism is provided with a protection structure that limits the amount of compression of the coil spring to an amount of compression less than an amount of compression at which the length of the coil spring reaches a limit compression length.
