Abstract:
To form a hollow portion of a cast product, provided is a breathable salt core (4) which is disposed in a cavity (2) of a casting mold (1) and is melted and removed after casting. The breathable salt core (4) is formed by performing powder molding of an unlimited number of salt particles (17) into a predetermined shape corresponding to the hollow portion. In a process of casting, a gap (18) which can hold a gas (10) remaining in the cavity (2) is formed among the unlimited number of salt particles (17) which has been subjected to the powder molding. Thus, a breathable salt core and a method for manufacturing the same are provided such that the remaining gas in the cavity which is pushed out by molten metal is caused to enter the gap formed among the salt particles of the salt core, thereby preventing a flow of the molten metal from being hindered and reducing a tendency to cause a filling failure of the molten metal, and a low-cost production thereof can be conducted in a simple manufacturing process.
