Abstract:
Provided are a Brillouin spectrum measuring method and a measuring device having a
structure for accurately measuring a parameter of a Brillouin spectrum at a predetermined
section of an optical fiber. The measuring method uses an optical fiber unit
having a first and a second optical fiber connected in series via a connection portion.
The first and the second optical fiber have the Brillouin spectrum having a peak
frequency difference not smaller than a predetermined frequency difference
under a predetermined temperature and at a state when a predetermined distortion
is applied while assuming respective use environments. The measuring method
measures the Brillouin spectrum obtained in accordance with a pump light supplied
to the optical fiber unit and specifies the connection portion between the first
and the second optical fiber according to the measurement data on the measured
Brillouin spectrum.
