Abstract:
A transcription factor gene OsWOX20 that regulates the growth and development of monocotyledon's root is isolated and cloned. The function of the gene is also testified and the uses thereof are also provided. The transcription factor gene OsWOX20 DNA comprises: (a) DNA sequence with 786bp shown in SEQ ID NO:1, or (b) DNA sequence encoding the same protein with the one encoded by (a). A promoter is also provided, the sequence of which comprises the DNA sequence with 2078bp shown in SEQ ID NO:3. By transforming rice with the cloned gene sequence of OsWOX20, transformed rice plant with obvious improved growth and development of root is obtained. The reporter gene driven by the promoter is expressed specifically in root of rice. gene OsWOX20 and the promoter can be used in culturing transgenic plant with improved growth and development of root.
