Abstract:
According to the present invention, a capillary (5) in which a hydrophilic liquid (2A) protrudes from a tip (5a) thereof faces a transparent substrate (10) having a hydrophilic main surface (10a). While irradiating the hydrophilic liquid (2A) with light from the opposite side to the capillary (5) with respect to the transparent substrate (10), the capillary (5) is caused to approach the transparent substrate (10). The approach of the capillary (5) is detected on the basis of the amount of light emitted from the hydrophilic liquid (2A) in a direction away from the center axis (C) of the capillary (5).
