A carbon dioxide electrolysis device that comprises: an electrolysis cell that comprises a first electrode that includes a first catalyst that is for reducing carbon dioxide, a second electrode that includes a second catalyst that is for oxidizing water or hydroxide ions, a first electrode flow channel that faces the first electrode, a second electrode flow channel that faces the second electrode, and a separator that separates the first electrode and the second electrode; a power source control part; a first flow channel in which carbon dioxide flows; a second flow channel in which a carbon compound flows; a third flow channel in which an electrolyte solution that includes water flows; a fourth flow channel in which oxygen flows; a first valve that is for connecting the first electrode flow channel and the first flow channel; a second valve that is for connecting the first electrode flow channel and the second flow channel; a tank that is connected to the first electrode flow channel and is for housing a rinse liquid; and a control part that controls the opening/closing of the first valve and the second valve on the basis of requirements for the performance of the electrolysis cell.
