Abstract:
A stable, carotenoid-containing composition is provided which contains a carotenoid and a thickener. More preferably, a carotenoid-containing composition is provided which contains a carotenoid, a thickening polysaccharide such as hyaluronic acid, and ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof, and further, a propolis extract and/or peanut seed coat extract. By adding the thickener and also the propolis extract and/or peanut seed coat extract, it is possible to reduce the amount of the ascorbic acid or derivative thereof, making it possible to provide a carotenoid-containing composition with low skin irritation that is suitable for cosmetics.
