Abstract:
A case hardened steel which contains, in mass%, 0.15-0.25% of C, 0.4-1% of Si, 0.3-0.6% of Mn, more than 0% but 0.03% or less of P, more than 0% but 0.03% or less of S, 1.2-2% of Cr, 0.3-0.5% of Mo, 0.01-0.08% of Al, more than 0% but 0.02% or less of N, more than 0% but 0.005% or less of Ti, and more than 0% but 0.005% or less of Nb, with the balance made up of iron and unavoidable impurities, and wherein the Z value represented by formula (1) is more than 0 but 1.0 × 10-4 or less.
