Abstract:

Provided is a catalyst for exhaust gas purification that can establish both reductions in pressure loss and improvements in purification performance. The present invention provides a catalyst 10 for exhaust gas purification, which is provided with a wall flow type base member, a first catalyst layer 261, and a second catalyst layer 262. The first catalyst layer 261 is provided inside a partition wall 26 and provided at a length L1 less than Lw from an end part 24a on an exhaust gas inflow side toward the direction of extension so as to be in contact with an entry side cell 24. The second catalyst layer 262 is provided inside the partition wall 26 and provided at a length L2 less than Lw from an end part 25a on an exhaust gas outflow side toward the direction of extension so as to be in contact with an exit side cell 25. The catalyst has a base member exposure part 26N1 in a position in the proximity of the end part 25a on the exhaust gas outflow side in a region that is inside the partition wall 26 and in contact with the entry side cell 24.
