Title:
CATALYST HAVING METAL MICROPARTICLES SUPPORTED THEREON, AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/108162
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for producing a catalyst having metal microparticles supported thereon, which comprises the steps of: producing microparticles each comprising a poor metal; forming a shell part comprising a noble metal on the surface of each of the poor metal microparticles that serve as cores, thereby producing the catalyst; and collecting the catalyst from a reaction solution. In the catalyst having metal microparticles supported thereon which is produced by the process, the poor metal microparticles are used as cores, and therefore the amount of the noble metal to be used can be reduced and the cost for producing the catalyst can also be reduced. In the catalyst, the shell part comprising the noble metal is used, and therefore an excellent catalytic activity can be achieved. The catalyst having metal microparticles supported thereon which is produced by the process can be used for the formation of a catalyst layer to be used in, for example, a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC).
