Abstract:
The present invention provides a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas, the catalyst having exceptional performance in purifying chemically stable methane. The catalyst 5 for purifying exhaust gas according to the present invention comprises a substrate 10 that divides cells 12 through which exhaust gas flows, and a catalyst layer 20 provided to the surface of the substrate 10. The catalyst layer 20 includes: a palladium layer 21 that includes palladium and is extended from a first end part 10a, which is an end part of the cells 12 at which the exhaust gas is introduced, toward a second end part 10b, which is an end part from which the exhaust gas is discharged; a platinum layer 22 that includes platinum and is extended from the second end part 10b toward the first end part 10a; and a rhodium layer 23 that includes rhodium and is layered on the palladium layer 21 and the platinum layer 22.
