Title:
CATALYST WARM-UP CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND CATALYST WARM-UP CONTROL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/130614
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In the present invention, an internal combustion engine (1) is installed for power generation in a series hybrid vehicle and has an upstream-side catalytic converter (8) and a downstream-side catalytic converter (9) in an exhaust system. If the temperature of the upstream-side catalytic converter (8) is equal to or less than a threshold value when the internal combustion engine (1) is started, a low-speed/low-load operation in which the ignition timing is drastically retarded is carried out. If it is determined, from an input heat quantity, that warm-up of the upstream-side catalytic converter (8) is complete, the operation transitions to an operation in which the ignition timing is set near an MBT point and the rotation speed and the load are set near an optimal fuel consumption point. Until it is determined that the catalyst warm-up of the downstream-side catalytic converter (9) is complete, the operation of the internal combustion engine (1) is continued regardless of the power generation requirement. If it is determined, from an input heat quantity, that warm-up of the downstream-side catalytic converter (9) is complete, stopping of the internal combustion engine (1) is permitted.
