Abstract:
The present invention makes it possible to more easily work in real-time to analyze, fractionate, and culture cells while the cells are alive, and possible to culture while also removing unwanted cells to purify the cell culture. The present invention also enhances the purity, recovery rate, and viability of desired cells fractionated and analyzed from the cell culture. Use is made of a cell-adhesive photocontrollable base material whereby a photolabile group including an O-nitrobenzyl backbone undergoes bond dissociation due to light irradiation and the surface at the irradiated portion is irreversibly changed from a cell-adhesive base material to a non-cell-adhesive base material. Cell images are detected and analyzed to obtain positional information on desired cells. On the basis of this information, a cut is made by a second light irradiation between cells and in the cell-adhesive photocontrollable base material. Meanwhile, the surface of the base material being changed from cell-adhesive to non-cell-adhesive, peeling occurs between the cells and the base material. This makes it possible to analyze and fractionate the cells while the cells are still alive.
