Abstract:
Provided are a cell holding material capable of holding cells without the scaffold to which the cells adhere interfering with cell observation, and a cell holding method therefor. One aspect of the present invention is a cell holding material comprising a frame member for enclosing all or at least part of a planned holding region in which a cell population in which a plurality of cells are aggregated can be held, and a film-form cell population that occupies at least part of the planned holding region and is held by the frame member. At least part of the peripheral edge of the cell population contacts the frame member, and the portion of the cell population that occupies the planned holding region is suspended in space.
