Abstract:
In the present invention, a piezoelectric ceramic is formed using a perovskite-type compound such as PZT as the primary ingredient. The present invention contains at least 0.6 wt% of Nb and/or Sb, and at least 0.05 wt% of Ce, Tb, Dy, Ho, and/or Er. Preferably, at least 0.29 wt% of Ni, Fe, Co, Mn, Mg, and/or Zn is contained. The crystal axis of the crystal grains has a {100} orientation, and has orientation properties of which the degree of orientation resulting from a Lotgering method under the imposition of a 3T magnetic field is at least 0.5. A ceramic element (1) is formed using the piezoelectric ceramic. As a result, achieved are a piezoelectric ceramic having sufficient crystal orientation properties even under the imposition of a weak magnetic field, and a method for producing the piezoelectric ceramic. By means of using the piezoelectric ceramic, a piezoelectric ceramic electronic element is achieved that obtains a more favorable electromechanical coupling coefficient.
