Abstract:
This charging device is provided with: a discharge wire; a grid electrode; and a cleaning brush that slides into contact with the grid electrode and cleans the grid electrode. Hairs (503) of the cleaning brush are each configured such that in a sectional shape orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, 10≥N≥3 and r2/r1≥0.1 are established, where r1 denotes the radius of a smallest circle (C1) including the entire hair (503), projected parts of the hair (503) having lengths of 65% or larger of r1 from the center (C2) of the smallest circle (C1) at the outer diameter side of the outline of the hair (503) are set as feet (503a), N denotes the number of feet (503a), and r2 denotes the largest distance in a radial direction from the outline of the hair (503) between each foot (503a) and any foot (503a) adjacent to the foot (503a) to the smallest circle (C1).
