Abstract:
Provided is a cladding method for a valve seat in a cylinder head blank (10) provided with a combustion chamber (13), an air intake port (11) or an exhaust port (12) communicating with the combustion chamber (13), and an annular countersunk groove (14) formed at the open end of the intake port (11) on the combustion chamber (13) side thereof, the method involving irradiating with a laser beam (30) a metal powder which has been supplied to the countersunk groove (14) and forming a cladding layer (20). A gas flow regulating wall (15) protrudes to the inside of the countersunk groove (14) and in the direction of the sides of the combustion chamber (13) from the countersunk groove (14), and a gas is blown while irradiating with the laser beam (30), the flow of gas being directed to the outside from the inside of the countersunk groove (14) by the gas flow regulating wall (15).
