Abstract:
A coated tool of the present disclosure comprises a base and a diamond coating positioned on the base. The coated tool has a cutting edge. An area from the cutting edge to 300 μm in a direction away from the cutting edge is defined as a first area, and an area at a distance of 300 μm to 800 μm inclusive from the cutting edge is defined as a second area. A plurality of dome-shaped protrusions are present on a surface of the diamond coating. When viewed from directly above the first area, protrusions positioned in the first area and having an equivalent circle diameter of not smaller than 6 μm are defined as first protrusions, and the number of the first protrusions per 1 mm2 is defined as a first protrusion count. When viewed from directly above the second area, protrusions positioned in the second area and having an equivalent circle diameter of not smaller than 6 μm are defined as second protrusions, and the number of the second protrusions per 1 mm2 is defined as a second protrusion count. The first protrusion count is 30 or less, and the second protrusion count is greater than the first protrusion count.
