Abstract:

A vinylidene chloride copolymer film and a laminated film far superior to those of the prior art in barrier properties. A vinylidene chloride copolymer film excellent in barrier properties is made from a copolymer which comprises 88 to 93 % by weight of vinylidene chloride and 12 to 7 % by weight of one or more monomers copolymerizable with vinylidene chloride and which has a Q/P ratio of 1.5 or above, wherein Q is the integrated intensity of the peak as determined by the wide-angle X-ray reflection method with 2 being 15� and P is that of the peak as determined similarly with 2 being 38�. A laminated film excellent in barrier properties is made from a base film and a layer of a copolymer which comprises 88 to 93 % by weight of vinylidene chloride and 12 to 7 % by weight of one or more monomers copolymerizable with vinylidene chloride and which has an I/J ratio of 1.4 or above, wherein I and J are the peak intensity and the base line intensity respectively as determined by the wide-angle X-ray reflection method with 2 being 38� and a half band width of the peak of 3� or below as determined with 2 being 38�.
