Abstract:
The present technique relates to a coding device, a coding method, a decoding device, and a decoding method with which the S/N of an image can be greatly improved. A class classification unit performs class classification for classifying a pixel of interest of a first image, obtained by adding together a predictive coding residual and a predicted image, into any of a plurality of classes. A filtering unit subjects the first image to filtering corresponding to the class of the pixel of interest, and generates a second image for use in predicting a predicted image. The class classification is performed using previous-stage filter-related information relating to previous-stage filtering which is performed prior to the filtering by the filtering unit. The present technique may be applied, for example, in an image coding device or decoding device.
