Abstract:
A combinatorial optimization problem processing device that processes a combinatorial optimization problem with N elements by associating the problem with an Ising model wherein: a 1 × 2 Mach–Zehnder optical modulator 10 that takes a polarization clock pulse train as input, an optical interference circuit 20 that takes the polarization clock pulse train as modulated by the Mach–Zehnder optical modulator 10 as input, an optical integrator 30 that integrates an initializing optical pulse train that creates a neutral state with respect to interactions between elements with output of the optical interference circuit 20, and a modulation signal generation unit 40 that generates a modulation signal for the Mach–Zehnder optical modulator 10 by waveform-shaping an output signal of the optical integrator 30 into an optically modulated electrical signal and causes a monitor signal representing a solution to a combinatorial problem to be output externally are provided; and the optical interference circuit 20 repeatedly causes a prescribed interaction in the Ising model to occur from the neutral state in the cycle of the N pulses of the polarization clock pulse train.
