Abstract:
The present application relates to the technical field of communications. Disclosed are a communication method and apparatus, capable of reducing the failure probability of a terminal service in an interoperation scenario. The method in the present application comprises: obtaining slice information of a session, sending a first message to a network function storage function network element, and receiving identification information of an intermediate session management function network element from the network function storage function network element. The first message comprises the slice information of the session, the first message is used for requesting the identification information of the intermediate session management function network element, the intermediate session management function network element is used for managing an intermediate user plane function network element, the intermediate user plane function network element is used for forwarding serve data between an access network device connected to the terminal and an anchor user plane function network element when the terminal moves out of a service area of the anchor user plane function network element and an anchor session management function network element.
