Embodiments of the present application relate to the field of communications, and provide a communication method and apparatus, capable of preventing interference from a neighbor base station during data transmission and facilitating improving downlink performance. The method comprises: a first network device receives a first message from a second network device, wherein the first message is used for indicating time-frequency resource information of a TRS of a second network device; and the first network device determines, according to the time-frequency resource information of the TRS of the second network device, a rate matching pattern or a zero power channel state information reference signal pattern. The embodiments of the present application are applied to a SA scenario or a DC scenario.
