Abstract:
Embodiments of the present application disclose a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a terminal device sends first wireless capability information to a first network device, and then sends second wireless capability information to a second network device, the first wireless capability information and the second wireless capability information comprising different numbers of maximum downlink (DL) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers. In the embodiments of the present application, when the terminal device cannot find, according to reported wireless capability information, a suitable cell in which to reside, the terminal device may update the reported wireless capability information, so that the terminal device may find a suitable cell for residing, thereby improving the mobility of the terminal device.
