Abstract:
The present application relates to a communication method and apparatus. A source primary network device receives first information from a target primary network device, the first information comprising information of M candidate primary cells and information of N candidate primary/secondary cells; the source primary network device sends the first information to a terminal device; the source primary network device receives, from the terminal device, measurement results of some or all of the M candidate primary cells; and the source primary network device sends a handover command to the terminal device, so as to instruct the terminal device to switch to a target candidate primary cell and connect to target candidate primary/secondary cells. In the method provided in the embodiments of the present application, a terminal device can switch to a suitable primary cell under a dual-connection or multi-connection scenario, and maintains communication with a secondary network device, thereby improving communication quality.
