Abstract:
A communication system that uses a multi-core fiber equipped with three or more nodes and provided with a plurality of cores in at least some of the inter-node-connecting intervals, the communication system being equipped with: a detection signal output unit for outputting a fault detection signal transmitted by a core provided in the multi-core fiber for connecting the nodes; and a fault detection unit for determining whether or not a fault has occurred between nodes, on the basis of the fault detection signal detection results.
