Abstract:
The present invention provides a compact augmented reality optical device using a diffractive element, the device comprising: a reflection means which transmits, to a diffractive element, image light of a virtual image, emitted from an image output unit; the diffractive element which provides a virtual image to a user by transmitting the image light of the virtual image, transmitted from the reflection means, toward the pupil of the user's eye, and which transmits through image light of a real object, emitted from an object in the real world and transmits same to the pupil of the user's eye; and an optical means in which the reflection means and the diffractive element are disposed, and which transmits through the image light of the real object, emitted from the real object and transmits same toward the pupil of the user's eye, wherein the optical means includes a first surface from which the image light of the virtual image and the image light of the real object, transmitted through the diffractive element, are emitted toward the pupil of the user, and a second surface which is opposite the first surface and onto which the image light of the real object is incident, and the reflection means and the diffractive element are each buried and disposed in the inner portion between the first surface and the second surface of the optical means.
