Abstract:
The probabilities (fatigue strength exceedance probabilities (Pv0) of virtual cells) that the stress amplitude (σp) of operating stress exceeds the stress amplitude (σw) of fatigue strength in respective virtual cells each obtained by equally dividing the area of a machine component so as to include one inclusion and each having a virtual unit volume (V0) are derived, provided that the distribution function of an inclusion size (√area) follows a generalized Pareto distribution. From the fatigue strength exceedance probabilities (Pv0), the probability (fatigue strength exceedance probability (Pfv) of the machine component) that the stress amplitude (σp) of operating stress exceeds the stress amplitude (σw) of fatigue strength in at least one of the virtual cells is derived.
