Abstract:
Attention is focused on a nutritional composition known as having an effect of controlling blood glucose level. This food is administered to rats over a long time and the expression of genes relating to the lipid metabolism in the liver and fat tissues of the animals is analyzed by the real time PCR method. As a result, it is observed that the expression of PPAR&agr gene is promoted by the above-described food and, in its turn, the expression of fatty acid metabolism-related genes (i.e., PPAR&agr target genes) is promoted while the expression of fatty acid synthases is regulated. Moreover, it is confirmed that the above food exerts an effect of promoting the expression of PPAR&gammad and adiponectin. Thus, it is found out that this food has effects of enhancing the production of PPAR and PPAR-associated factors.
