Title:
COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING, ALLEVIATING OR TREATING ALOPECIA OR POLIOSIS THROUGH ALDEHYDE DEHYDROGENASE 2 REGULATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/146274
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating and/or treating alopecia or poliosis (or poliosis circumscripta), and the like, and was accomplished by identifying that an aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) activator promotes hair follicle formation and hair growth and has an excellent effect on inhibiting the oxidative stress of hair follicles. Therefore, the ALDH2 activator according to the present invention can be used as a preparation for preventing, alleviating and/or treating alopecia and poliosis. Furthermore, combination treatment of the ALDH2 activator and minoxidil exhibited better alopecia prevention and treatment effects. Therefore, ALDH2, itself, according to the present invention, effectively promotes hair growth, and is expected to be effectively used, in combination with minoxidil, in medical, beauty and food item fields in order to prevent, alleviate and treat alopecia.
