Abstract:
According to the present invention, a conversion process from a row-oriented database to a column-oriented database is performed at high speed using an FPGA and a CPU in combination. According to the present invention, a computer is provided with an integrated circuit that includes: (1) a first logic that generates temporary dictionary encoding data obtained by converting addition data which is stored in a row-oriented format and which is to be added to the column-oriented database into a column-oriented format, and temporary dictionary data corresponding to the temporary dictionary encoding data; and (2) a second logic that adds the temporary dictionary encoding data and the temporary dictionary data in the column-oriented database. The computer determines whether or not to activate the second logic on the basis of the number of entries of the temporary dictionary data generated by the first logic or the CPU of the computer.
