Abstract:
Provided are the connection structure of optical fiber for suppressing the occurrence of MPI and single-mode fiber for suppressing the occurrence of the MPI when using the optical fiber in which bending resistance has been improved by providing a hole in the fiber. A second single-mode fiber (20) is provided with a hole (28) in a second clad portion, resulting in a low bending loss. A portion in which the hole (28) is crushed into solid over a length (L0) exists in the connection portion between the second single-mode fiber (20) and first single-mode fiber (10a), and in this portion, the light of an LP (11) mode is widely attenuated to suppress the occurrence of the MPI.
