The structure of the outer conductor shell in prior art connectors suffers from the problem that a shell mounting part is formed so as to extend flush to a sidewall, and the part that is not used as the shell mounting part is removed from the shell, so if the plurality of terminals contained in the terminal group held by the housing are equipped with a terminal mounting part positioned alongside in the horizontal direction orthogonal to the fitting direction, it was impossible to adequately cover and protect the periphery of said terminal mounting part, making the connector susceptible to disturbances in high-frequency characteristics. In order to solve this problem, a shell mounting part and protective piece are provided to the sidewall portion protruding in the horizontal direction so as to match the shape of the terminal protecting part protruding to the outside of the housing, and by bending said protective piece so as to curl in over the outwardly protruding terminal protecting part, said terminal protecting part can be adequately protected, the surrounding area thereof can be strengthened, and it is possible to provide a connector in which the effects of external sources on high-frequency characteristics are reduced.
