Abstract:

Disclosed is a constant velocity universal joint provided with an outer joint member (10) at least one end of which is open; and an inner joint member (20) which transmits torque while allowing angular displacement via balls (30) between the outer joint member (10) and the inner joint member (20). In this constant velocity universal joint, a smaller diameter end section (72) of a boot (70) which closes an opening of the outer joint member (10) is installed on a shaft (50) which extends from the inner joint member (20). A lip section (75) and a vent groove (76) are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the smaller diameter end section (72) of the boot (70), said lip section (75) abutting the outer peripheral surface of the shaft (50), and said vent groove (76) establishing air communication between the inside and the outside of the boot (70).
