Abstract:
Provided is a production method that is industrially advantageous in that it is possible to obtain, at a high purity and a high yield, 4-chloropyridine-2-carboxylic acid chloride, which is useful as an intermediate starting material for drugs, agricultural chemicals, and the like. 4-chloropyridine-2-carboxylic acid chloride is efficiently obtained at a high purity and a high yield by using bromine as a catalyst when a pyridine-2-carboxylic acid derivative or salt thereof is reacted with thionyl chloride.
