Abstract:
It is intended to provide a chimeric animal which produces proteins and tissues of animals of the same or different species or in which desired multipotent cells are transmitted in the germ line and a multipotent cell lacking a specific gene and thus losing a function in which the gene participates. A method of constructing a chimeric animal which comprises injecting cells of two or more types containing a multipotent cell having the defect or mutation of a specific gene and thus losing a function in which the gene participates and another multipotent cell other than the above-described multipotent cell into an animal host embryo, and a chimeric animal constructed by this method.
