[Problem] To provide a control device for an automatic transmission which can better control shifting during shifting by clutch changeover. [Solution] An automatic transmission (10) includes: an input clutch (C1) involved in the input of drive power to the automatic transmission (10); a disengagement-side friction engagement device (B1) disengaged during shifting by clutch changeover; and an engagement-side friction engagement device (B3) engaged during said shifting by clutch changeover. In a control device (90) for the automatic transmission (10), shifting by clutch changeover is executed as a first shift mode by a first mode control means (122). While a slipping means (126, S3) slips the input clutch (C1), a clutch changeover control means (132, S4) switches the engagement states of the disengagement-side friction engagement device (B1) and the engagement-side friction engagement device (B3). Said shifting by clutch changeover in which an engaging means (128, S7) engages the input clutch (C1) changes, by engagement of the input clutch (C1), the rotational speed (NE) of an engine (8) coupled to an input shaft (22) of the automatic transmission (10). Thus, shifting by clutch changeover can be more easily performed with a simpler control than in the past.
