Abstract:
The disclosed control device for an internal combustion engine can increase the air temperature inside cylinders and in an intake system during a fuel cut, thereby ensuring good fuel ignitability when returning from the fuel-cut state. Said control device is provided with an exhaust variable valve mechanism (46) that makes the closure timing of an exhaust valve variable. When a fuel cut starts, the closure timing of the exhaust valve is advanced ahead of exhaust top dead center.
