Abstract:
Reaction gas temperature adjustment for suppressing increase in reaction gas temperature inside a fuel reforming chamber (23) is executed, if the gas temperature in the fuel reforming chamber (23) at the time when a piston (22) reaches the compression top dead center in a fuel reforming cylinder (2) is estimated to be at least a minimum soot generation temperature set in accordance with the equivalence ratio inside the fuel reforming chamber (23). In addition, the closure timing for an air intake valve (26) is changed and the effective compression ratio of the fuel reforming chamber (23) is reduced.
