Abstract:
This control device controls the operation of a self-propulsion mechanism of an endoscope, the self-propulsion mechanism causing an insertion section to advance or retreat using a motor as a source of power. The control device is provided with: a motor drive circuit which outputs a motor current for driving the motor; a motor current detection circuit which acquires a value relating to the magnitude of the motor current as a detected value; a storage circuit in which a limit value relating to the detected value is stored; and a control circuit which performs control to stop the motor when it is determined, by means of software and hardware each comparing the detected value with the limit value, that the detected value has exceeded the value relating to the limit value.
